Pebble
Heart-shaped, thumbnail-small,
resting in the dirt between
sidewalk and asphalt,
I look side to side,
before I can pick it up.
No one else wants it.
Jagged line, ragged,
etched deep between ventricles,
perfect for me. Cracked.

and what a poem it is - lovely! I, too, collect stones, especially heart-shaped ones, cracks or no, or simply unusually shaped ones. I have two bowls full of heart-shaped ones. Once you start looking, the universe responds!
