Here they are, in brief. Feel free to share interpretations.
I don’t remember in what order I had these dreams, but the first one has me working for the Library again. And I am on a bus with other librarians who tell me they are glad I’m back. Privately, I wonder because I have been away for over ten years (true non-dream fact). One of my tasks on this bus is to provide the cash box to the armored car when we get to the armored car, but I have no idea where the key to the box is, and we need that for the security guard to get the cash box… I explain that I’ve just returned after a long absence, and I don’t know where things are. I find the key in a pouch of a canvas tote bag. I feel relieved!
In the second, it was late spring or early summer. After being gone, I arrived back at my mom's old apartment in Brooklyn and of course she was gone, but it turns out the apartment was now mine to do with what I wanted and I wanted to renovate it and began walking around the place and saying, "I want to move this here" or "Move that there and build shelves," and I was confident, waving my hands around and pointing. I don't remember to whom I was speaking, but the confidence and the fact that I had just come back from somewhere else were important.
The third dream happened on a college campus, probably Brooklyn College, and it was at night. There was a concert, which, now that I had returned, was good to attend. After the concert, there was an official reception with food, So everyone is wearing nice clothes including me, and it turns out that I am responsible for the reception and even though I had been away and worried that now I had a whole bunch of stuff I had to do and was not prepared for, it went off without a hitch! Except there were a lot of people who asked me for matzoh instead of bread. I told them I had been away for a while and had no idea it was still Passover and that I was Jewish. I pointed out all the other Pesachdik things they could eat. Although I did feel guilty that I hadn’t prepared better. So nu? I had been away, that was my excuse!
And then I woke up for good today.
What does it all mean?
One, I loved these dreams!
Two, I feel in reality I have returned to myself in many ways, after feeling smacked in the face by the election and inauguration.
I’ve engaged in some activism. There is a local group that meets on Saturday for a weekly visible protest. My spouse and son joined in, too. We all made signs.
Three, I have been doing more physical exercise and going to a community center to take Chair Yoga and other exercise classes. Doing this has gotten me out of the house, but because this community center was one I worked at for a long time, it reconnected me with people I like and care for.
Four, I tried a migraine abortive for the first time last Thursday. Sumatriptan nasal spray. It worked! Nothing like getting rid of a migraine to make you feel like yourself!
Reader, do you have vivid dreams? Do you think they send you messages (other than, “Get up and go pee… NOW!!!). Even if you don’t, I’d be happy to read your Comments and to see that you liked the post. Or didn’t. And please share my work.
One of my favorite songs is about returning. Returning home.
I try to keep my Substack free. Sometimes I forget to click the Free button, but I can always republish! If you like the post, but don’t want to subscribe, I appreciate tips with Ko-fi.
May your dreams bring you back to good times and places.
That is awesome! Here are my thoughts... you asked. 😄
Alex and Hector are dreaming of chasing mice through a field and getting lost in a patch of catnip. But the best part comes later when they dream that you are uncontrollably giving them treat after treat!
The following are not referenced by anything but my instinct. So here's what I see.
1. Feeling confident to take responsibility without knowing all the answers. Answers always come... eventually.
2. There's the confidence again.
3. Having responsibility but not knowing how it will get done. Seeing the past as you wanted it to be. It's okay to delegate. But no one's perfect. Taking imperfect action is still a success!
Common themes through the three parts:
• Feeling confident
• Having responsibility and delegating
• Answers come
PS: So happy you finally got a medication to abort migraines, and it worked!!!
