Welcome to Z Words and Happy New Year!
My last name begins and ends with the letter Z. I think that’s why I have a time management problem.
It’s no wonder I tend to procrastinate. I always think, “I won’t be called on yet, I can still fiddle with this.”
So I’ve always put off nurturing my creativity.
Maybe you’ve done the same.
You don’t even need a Z in your name to think, "Not now, I have a family to take care of and cats to feed first."
Or not now, "I'll wait until tomorrow. I’ve got too many errands today."
Or not yet, "I'll wait until I retire, then I will have time..."
And while we wait and ponder, the world rushes in to claim our thoughts, our energy and time.
Believe it or not, writing this newsletter is my way to get my time back, by giving time.
That’s right, by giving myself time to research, write, and rewrite, I give the newsletter more than time. It’s what I’ve always wanted to do.
I give myself permission to write.
I’ll write about what it’s like to start a freelance business in retirement (hah!). I’ll also write about discovering, when I was nearly 60, that I’ve had ADD my whole life.
I’ll also write about my son who is on the autism spectrum. He’s an adult now.
And what it’s like to be married to a well-respected and locally renowned author. Am I jealous? Hit the subscribe button and find out!
I hope that some of this, maybe all of it will be useful to you: tips on time management, material management, mindset management. All of it, life management!
I’ll share what business and non-business books and techniques are helping me figure out how to adjust my mindset to: ask for help, try new things, and to not let setbacks keep me from trying again. All of which has been scary for me. But here I am!
And if there’s a topic you want me to cover, or you think I’m absolutely wrong, please let me know in the comments. And of course, please subscribe. And share.
I’ll send you my newsletter once a month to start. I’m not entirely sure about the day of the week yet. I hope to scale it up to twice a month.
This newsletter is free, but if you like what I’m writing, please consider a paid subscription.
