Happy April! Easter is past and Passover is in a week!
Wishing everyone meaningful celebrations, and joyous gatherings of family and friends!
April is National Poetry Month
I worked on this on April 1st:
My Brain on ADHD
I won’t finish this. I know it.
Clouds throw a blanket
over the sun, then remove
to another part of the sky.
Between shadow and light,
I can’t find what I’m supposed to do next.
BASEBALL!!!!!!
Scott and I went to the game on Opening Day. It was a beautiful afternoon.
I forgot how much traffic there would be.
What would normally be a half-hour drive at the most, was at least twice that just past downtown as we crawled in single file to the stadium parking lot.
And walked half a mile to our seats.
On the plus side, we missed most of the hype about building a downtown stadium. We missed the big field-covering flag, and the national anthem…and that’s okay.
We arrived just after the first pitch (to the Minnesota Twins).
But just in time to see Maikel Garcia, Royals 3rd baseman scorch one into the left field stands!
Unfortunately, that was the only run scored.
And someone sitting behind us yelled at the pitchers, “C’mon! You had one job to do! Just strike him out!!! One more strike!!!”
We were all feeling it but, wow, it’s too early in the season to annoy your fellow fans with your kvetching and goading!
I wanted to yell back at her, “You go out there and pitch!” but I’m trying hard not to be an asshole.
So all I said to her was, “Easier said than done.”
And then I said never mind because she did not hear me and if I had to interact further with her… it might not have ended well.
But the best thing in many ways for me this time is that I was steady on my feet and did not fall!

Coming soon: The Z Words Seal of Zeal!
Sometimes something moves you so much you just want to show it extra attention and love. You want everybody to love it as much as you do.
I’m working with the talented, creative Marleen Martinez to design a graphic to go with the Seal of Zeal. It’ll be ready soon and I have a list of writers and artists I feel zealous about!
In the meantime:
congrats for staying steady on your feet!
I'm always so glad when this pops into my inbox! Thanks for sharing your brains and words with me :)
